Day ?? ( we lost track)

Yesterday was the summer solstice! We went to a celebration at the museum, a group of people from Ecuador danced and sung and did solstice rituals. It was really cool! At the end we got up and danced with them! :) Today we went to china town and shopped! Jade and I got some cool watches! they are in the picture. We only have a few more days here, I am both sad and excited to go home. While I am writing this post I am eating some of Big Nicks giant pizza!!! Its probably the biggest slice of pizza ever! Delicious!
Gabby :)

Yesterday at the summer solstice thing we watched dancers and also saw a star thing in the planetarium. It made me miss home seeing that many stars, because you can't see near as many here as you can at home. The danced a native dance and we participated! Well, today we went shopping in Chinatown, again. I'm pretty sure i shouldn't be aloud there, i spend way too much money! But on the plus side I got all my girls for people(: oh! And Gabby and I got some pretty great watches, even though we got them for show and not to actually use haha. Anyways..I'm pretty ready to go home, even though I'm sure I'll miss the city when we're gone.

And the count down begins! 2 Days!
Happy late Summer Solstice!! Yesterday was great! We finished filming our project and then went to a Summer Solstice celebration put on by the museum. People from I think somewhere in South America came and danced and showed us how they celebrate it where they are from. We also were able to go into the planetarium (a huge globe like theater in the museum.) and watch a star presentation about the alignment of the stars and sun at different times of the year. And boy let me tell you, IT WAS AWESOME!! today we finished our video project and woo there's a relief! I was so stressed about that. We also went to Chinatown and finished our shopping :) . But I know for sure that I will miss everyone here.
Until Tomorrow, Peace Out

The last 6 days ( SORRY!!!)

This weekend we took a 5 hour bus ride to Washington D.C, it was nice to get out of NYC for a few days. My favorite part of our weekend trip to D.C was seeing the white house! we didn't get to see much but it was still cool. we also got to go up into the Washington Monument! It was so high up in the air. There was a great view from the little windows. We also went swimming in our hotel in D.C, that was fun because we don't have a pool here in NYC! Oh and we got caught in the pouring rain and Jade and I huddled under a tiny umbrella!
Gabby :)

Well the past few days hasn't been that eventful, oh except for Coney Island and Washington DC. In Coney Island we went on the oldest roller coaster in the country called the Cyclone. Let me just say that thing hurt my neck soo bad! We also went to a freak show..this guy laid on a bed of nails and had me step on his chest, I was not okay with that haha. And the museum was pretty interseting, the funniest part was the mirrors. Washington DC was cool, I want to go back there with my family and have more time to see evevything though. We went to the Vietnam and the World War 2 memorials and those were both really sad, there were people crying and it made me happy to know my uncle is safe and in the states. Overall the trip was good, just the long bus ride home sucked!
Oh and I got my subway umbrella, as Gabby mentioned(:

Note: So sorry we haven't blogged!
These past 6 days in the never sleeping city have been relaxing, eventful and enjoyable. We went to Coney Island and rode the oldest roller coaster in the US named the Coney Island Cyclone. Which I think was built in 1922 or 27.. I forget which one but it's that old! While in Coney Island we ate at Nathan's famous Hotdogs. Which by the way is where the national Hotdog eating contest is held. ( if you didn't know..) We also went and saw the sideshows. Which was awesome! I got to be in one to! They put me in the electric chair and light lights up off of my body! I seriously was shocked! No pun intended. After Coney Island we spent the weekend in DC. What an amazing area. I was in awe over the city and all the history it holds. Each monument and memorial with its own story... Wow. My favorite part about the DC trip has to be our visit to the Washington Memorial. We were able to go up inside it! I had noooo idea you could even do that!
Until tomorrow, peace out.

Days 9,10 and 11

the past couple days we mostly just went to work at the museum and then walked around town. We went to The High Line, witch is an abandoned rail road track that was made into a park. It was so beautiful! I loved it! It is my new favorite place! But today we went to ground zero, they are building a memorial so we didn't get to see very much. It was sad to see where 9/11 actually happened. It made my stomach hurt thinking about what happened that day. I noticed ground zero was a lot quieter than the rest of the city, like people are still remembering as they walk passed the site of 9/11. It was super sad. We are still having a lot of fun, and i am enjoying getting to know my cousin!!
Gabby :)

Well the past couple of days haven't been super busy. We've been working a lot on our projects, we start filming very soon. On Monday we did some exploring got to know the city a little better. We ended up in Chinatown and it's a lot scary at night, I wasn't a fan of that. Yesterday we went to the High Line, it was cool and very pretty. I remember Gabby telling me about it a few weeks before we went but I didn't expect it to look as beautiful as it did. I liked that at every little area it was like a whole different view of the city. Today we went to an art museum during work witch was nice. But some of the art confused me so much. Art really isn't my thing. After the museum we went to Planet Hollywood to eat, the food was alright but I liked all different stuff that were from movies. We also went to Ground Zero which was nothing like what I thought it would be, but that's okay!

These past 3 days seem like they have gone by so fast! Everything is just go, go, go. We had quite the adventure on Monday night when we decided to explore the city and see the nighttime lights. We ended up in Chinatown which gave us all a little scare. I guess were just not used to all the people out on the streets. ( I felt quite intimidated by some of the people.) Yesterday I must say was on of my favorite days in the city. It was very relaxing and wasn't very busy at all. Today is another story though. Now today has made it to my favorite day spot! Cynthia took us to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and I GOT TO SEE SOME REAL VAN GOGH!! OH MY GOODNESS. I was sooo excited. Vincent Van Gogh was such an amazing artist. He is hands down my favorite. Though I was kinda bummed that Starry Night wasn't at the museum. (Which happens to be my favorite painting.) She did tell me its in town.. That is definitely a MUST see before I leave. But I did get to see my second favorite painting which is, Wheatfield with cypresses. It was so beautiful. Wayyyyy better than in the pictures. Wow.
Until tomorrow, peace out

Day 8

Today we finally got to sleep in a little. There was a huge market on the street, that we walked through and bought some things. After the market we went to china town and time square to shop again. We had a great weekend! We had really good Chinese food for dinner!
Gabby :)

Today Gabby & I got up around 9 and got ready but fell back asleep until noon. It felt good to sleep. We went to China town and Time Square again. I'm pretty sure Gabby irritated these two guys but it was funny. At Time Square wee went into the biggest Forever 21 I've ever seen! It was four stories. After shopping we went and ate Chinese food. My good deed of the day was giving my leftovers to a homeless man(:
Oh and....wwwwooooooooowwwww. haha Gabby gets it(:
Jade Kaitlyn<3

Day 8 in this Hugely immense city was pretty fun. We went shopping in not only China town but also in Times Square. There were so many people at Times Square! I still can't get over the intensity of the city. I have to say that my favorite part of the day was when I bought myself a Pillow Pet:) I got the cutest Giraffe that I named Gavin:)
Side note: It's raining again! And we've had no sightings of Cock Roaches! WOHOOO! Lets keep it that way please!?
until tomorrow, peace out

Giant pizza from Big Nicks! :D

Day 6 and 7

Yesterday we went into the storage of the museum. We got to see all of the baskets, weapons, and clothing of Native American people. They have so much in storage just sitting there, it made me really sad that these things were not with the people who owned them once.
Today we went to Six Flags in Jersey, it was a lot of fun. It was not as hot today which made Six Flags more enjoyable. We rode huge, scary roller coasters! It was SO fun!
Gabby :)

Yesterday, as Gabby said we went into storage, it was pretty amazing to see some of the things they made. Some of the baskets were crazy, they had incredible detail.
Today was Six Flags. I love roller coasters so it was great. I liked all of them, but my least favorite was the wood one. For some reason wood ones just scare me. But overall good day(:
Jade Kaitlyn<3

Day 6, was bitter sweet. The museum allowed us to go into the storage room where we they house all the items that aren't on display. We saw numerous artifacts from Northwest Coast people. It was very surreal to be in the room with all the baskets, bear grass skirts, and more. Although it was amazing to be able to get up close and personal with the artifacts, it also made me sad that they were just sitting there. In the dark, and away from where they belong. In all, I enjoyed the experience and will keep the memory with me forever.
Day 7. WOOOOOOOOOW!!! We went to Six Flags in New Jersey, and let me tell you, IT WAS A BLAST! It was the first time that I had ever been on a big roller coaster and I LOVED IT! Brian was nice enough to get passes for us so we didn't have to wait in all the lines so it made the day so much funner! I have to say, That is one place I will never get tired of. :)
until tomorrow, peace out
